I think, when choosing a career, between monetary rewards and happiness, it's rather important that one choose the latter over the former (discounting all other major factors aside). On average, we live until the age of 60 or so. 30-40 years of working must be used to produce something satisfactory, something that when we look back and can be proud of ourselves.
Personally, I value passion, reason and rationale over anything else.
On the way back from work, I had a thought about something. Why are there "wants"? Why have we felt not enough with merely "necessities"? Why do we want to consume beyond our means, eat beyond our needs, do stupid things beyond our thinking?
On a short note, why are we so greedy, really?
